The KU Discord Community, or KUDC for short, is a virtual hub for students, alumni, and faculty to connect. 99% of the servers functionality is geared towards alumni and student usage, though faculty have a home built for them here too. KUDC is not officially affiliated with the University’s administration. It is run by current and former students. We’ll get into the specifics more below.

With 450 members and growing every day, KUDC has created a unique atmosphere that Kutztown hasn’t experienced before. More connections are being made, more people are staying in touch, and more friendships are culminating in this new social cyber space.

KUDC was conceptualized late 2019 but wasn’t officially created till April 12, 2020. The initial reason for KUDC’s birth were to create a standardized digital hub for KU students to communicate. When the COVID-19 pandemic began to effect the United States, KUDC became a vital social center for the KU community. Member growth saw an unpredictable spike. This is when we knew our mission. KUDC is proud to be the largest Discord server for KU students.

Not KU administration, that’s for sure. KUDC is run by current and former students (alumni) who work hard to create a welcoming, fun, and productive environment for the KU community. KUDC staff operate under a hierarchical organization structure. The top dog being the Director followed by the Vice Director, then Moderators, and finally Helpers. All members of the KUDC staff play an important role in keeping the server a well oiled social culture. The current Director and founder of the KU Discord Community is Alex White, a communication design major in the Visual and Performing Arts major. Countless hours have been put in by all members of staff to keep KUDC fresh and providing the best resources to it’s members.

A lot. Like, a lot a lot. KUDC has worked hard to provide a standardized format of communication for the student body. Nothing really compares to KUDC in this light. Most students rely on Snapchat to create a patchy and closed off social sphere. This leaves a lot to be desired and KUDC is the solution.
